FREE THE MEDIA
This work was created for a self-negotiated project. I chose to focus on the restrictions and danger journalists face in todays world. The subject isn't always globally spoke about, but journalists who attempt to report in war torn and restricted countries face a considerable amount of danger in
simply just trying to do their jobs.
Between 1994 and 2003, there was one reported murder of a journalist in Iraq. Since the beginning of the Iraq war, the death toll has risen to 173 murdered journalists.
The project focuses on the limitations on freedom of speech, and the silencing of journalists who are trying to report on injustices, war, politics etc. Lack of media freedom makes us blind to the things
going on in the world. Journalists risk their lives in order to report on the stories they think the world should know about.
The campaign focuses on the idea of freeing the media and ending the limitations on freedom of speech. I have designed a number of media to advocate for the freedom on the press, as well as a website that provides information on the topic.
